Zoya 'Zo' Boone was the daughter of influential Free Mars politician Jackie Boone, and therefore the great-granddaughter of the first man on Mars, John Boone. Like her mother, she was fiercely proud of her lineage, as she held the legacy of John in high esteem.
An adventurous, free spirit, Zo lived a largely hedonistic lifestyle until her accidental death in a flying accident.

Background
Zo was conceived while Jackie was serving her first term on the first Martian government's executive council. Jackie was an intentional solo mother, withholding the identity of Zo's father[2], although there was naturally much speculation - Antar, Dao, Nirgal, even John Boone himself (with the appropriate biotech). As the daughter of one of Mars’ most influential political figures, much of the basic care in Zo’s early childhood (such as diaper-changing) was offloaded to Jackie’s staff.
Lifestyle
Co-op work
Zo worked with various co-ops around Mars thought these positions were fronts that allowed her and others to work as political operatives without revealing that this was their pricipal occupation. In general she only worked for a month or so before taking leave to perform another diplomatic task for her mother. Zo's co-op specialized in creating crater netting that help to transition tent towns to open air cities and in the months up to her Uranus trip and just before her death she worked in the Moreux Crater.
(subsequent editors need to cover these points)
- Love of flying, adventure
- Running with the ferals
- Sexual promiscuity
- Feline genes via the treatment.
- Undercover work for Jackie
Journey to the outer Solar System
As the political relationship began to deteriorate between Earth and Mars, Jackie took the political initiative to gain favour in the other colonies in the Solar system. Since doing this through official channels would be viewed as provocative Jackie dispatches Zo to the colonies in the outer solar system, and Mercury to make political contacts. Zo ventures as far out as Uranus and meets with those colonies its moons. Along with her during her travels is Ann Clayborne, who accompanies Zo at Sax's request.
Death
Upon her return from Uranus Zo traveled to the North Sea, south of Boone's Neck. She was flying with friends when she went to the aid of a distressed flier and they both crash-landed in waters near the sea cliffs. Zo and her companion might have been rescued but they were soon overwhelmed by incoming waves and slammed against the coastal seastacks and killed.
Notes
- ↑ This information is only an implied approximation from the text rather than being explicitly stated or logically deduced.
- ↑ According to the short story "Jackie On Zo", published in The Martians, Jackie admits that Nirgal was indeed Zo's father, but The Martians is not considered part of the official Mars trilogy canon. See main article for further discussion of this issue.
