Thoreaubred is one of the editors of the project, as well as the founder of The Demimonde, the Kim Stanley Robinson message board where the project was proposed and planned by several members.

Thoreaubred is known for writing articles and Talk comments ridden with typos, then editing the article or Talk page two or three more times to get rid of them all. Thoreaubred apologizes for this, and attributes it to "eagerness", whatever that means.

The name Thoreaubred is an obvious pun, mixing "Thoreau" and "thoroughbred". This is not to suggest that he necessarily considers himself a lot like Thoreau, whom he actually knows embarrassingly little about for someone with Thoreau in his screen name. What he admires about Thoreau was how principled he was, how he lived the way he believed was right and paid no attention to the expectations of society, how he was ahead of his time in so many ways that even today the world could use more Thoreaus.
