Nadezhda Francine Cherneshevsky came to Mars as a member of the First Hundred colonists. Establishing herself as a engineering genius, she quickly won the respect and reliance of the other settlers as she oversaw all the critical construction projects needed to establish a life on Mars.
She fell in love with fellow Russian Arkady Bogdanov, and was devastated when he was killed during the First Martian Revolution.
Nadia eventually became a reluctant politician, and ultimately was elected the first President of Mars
