The first man on Mars, and one of the First Hundred. Forever the over-cheerful man, Boone is the most well known man on Mars. When Robinson goes to Boone's POV in Red Mars, we find out that he loves to role-play and is an addict to omegendorph, a drug that stimulates the endorphins in your brain. His first words on Mars were "Well, here we are."

Maya Toitovna

John Boone was involved in a vicious and deadly love triangle with head of the Russian contingent, Maya Toitovna, and his best friend from years ago, and head of the American contingent, Frank Chalmers. Chalmers wanted to keep Boone out of the triangle, that he went so far as to spread rumors of racism towards Arabs on Boone's part, thus leading them to revolt (see below)

Death

John Boone was killed in 2053, during the opening celebration of Nicosia, by transnational Arabs, convinced that Boone was racist against them.
