Notes

Frank Chalmers was the leader of the American contingent of the first colony on Mars. He is usually described as appearing, in his youth, as tall with striking dark hair. Yet Maya Toitovna, an on-again, off-again lover, once remarked that looking into his eyes was as if one was gazing into the windows of an empty home.
